New Menu Items and A Magical Dining Preview at American Kitchen

1905 Hotel Plaza Blvd.
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
(407) 827-3080

American Kitchen Bar & Grill located inside B Resort & Spa in Disney Springs, hosted an event recently to showcase the Summer Menu as well as a sneak peek at the Magical Dining dishes created by the restaurant’s new Chef, Venoy Rogers.

Chef Venoy is a San Diego native who’s spent time at the W Hotel in his hometown, and also has spent time in Miami at Essensia at the Palms hotel, as well as with the B resorts brands in Miami. His approach to cooking is a new American fusion style that is still organic and fresh.

At American Kitchen, they follow a farm to table concept, which is an immediate focus from the moment you step through the door and are greeted with the big red living garden truck. They source local and sustainable products whenever possible, and use as much locally sourced ingredients from Florida farms as possible, which is great for Chef Venoy.

He is used to year round produce, and understands the expectations of customers looking for fine dining options that are are organic and locally sourced. Chef Venoy has become somewhat of a specialist in finding the freshest and most simple of ingredients that also deliver a wow factor.

Just like America, the menu here is a melting pot of multiple influences and techniques that feature a variety of traditional American dishes along with a “Small Bites” section for starters that features items like Miso Pork Buns, Korean Glazed Pork Ribs and Tempura Avocado.

The “Provisions” portion of the menu is where you can find entrees like the Free Range Chicken with Beer Carbonara, Cookhouse Meatballs and a 29 day dry aged Ribeye as well as market fish selections. The “Hand Helds” part of the menu gets off to a great start with The Local Wagyu Beef Burger that is topped with Florida Berkshire pork belly, homemade pickles, avocado, tomato-ricotta spread and blistered sweet pepper.

Inside American Kitchen, there is plenty of space and a variety of seating options. You can dine at communal tables or in an intimate booth with friends and family and take your taste buds down “Gin Lane” with American Kitchen’s revival on classic cocktails with a modern twist.

From Summer Harvest to Magical Dining at Canvas

13615 Sachs Ave.
Orlando, FL 32827
407-313-7800

Canvas is the brand new restaurant and market located at the Laureate Park Village Center in the heart of Lake Nona. If you recall back in march, Tastes Of Orlando got a pretty good taste of Canvas and we really enjoyed the place. If you missed it, you can see the full review Here.

Led by executive Chef Bryan Thoman, the Canvas restaurant menu features new American cuisine that is influenced by Florida’s Southern and Latin American roots with a focus on seasonal and regional produce as well as an abundance of fresh, Florida seafood. The chef driven menu is filled with shareable appetizers, creative salads and sandwiches, hearty entrees, and wood grilled pizzas and flatbreads.

Canvas is always striving to add creativity and variety to their menu. Sometimes this might be done by featuring seasonal ingredients in dishes, or by coming up with all new entrees to feature for a short time.

Recently I got to sample the two course summer menu that featured items not on the regular menu. Inspired by executive chef Bryan Thoman’s favorite summertime dishes and fused with Canvas’ signature Florida inspired cuisine, this limited time menu featured a variety of seasonal favorites prepared with the season’s freshest ingredients.

That deal has since expired, but as many of you know the time for Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month is upon us, and Canvas has a great selection of eats for $33.00 per person. During Magical Dining Month, participating restaurants offer up a three course meal that includes an appetizer, entree and dessert for one set price.

At Canvas diners can choose between an appetizer of the Jerk Marinated Grilled Chicken Wings or a Crab and Corn Bisque.

The entree selection includes Memphis Style Hot Chicken with biscuit and house pickles, Shrimp and Pork Belly Cheddar Grits with fried okra and piquante sauce or the Oak Grilled Wahoo Roasted Kabocha with squash and mole verde.

For desserts you can't go wrong with a choice of Sticky Toffee Pudding or the seasonal Upside Down Cake with vanilla bean gelato.

The Southern Hospitality Smash is among my favorite cocktails at Canvas with Woodford Reserve bourbon, dry curacao, pineapple, basil and grapefruit bitters. The Tavstiock Reserve Chardonnay is very good as well.

These little guys were on the Summer Harvest menu, and have made it to the Magical Dining Menu as well. The Jerk Marinated Grilled Chicken Wings with mango jalapeno puree are loaded with flavor, a nice heat and best of all the meat falls right off the bone.

The Classic Deviled Eggs with Sriracha were tasty treats.

By far, the most impressive appetizer of the evening was the Watermelon Salad with buttermilk dressing, arugula, jalapenos and Cotija cheese. The sweetness combined with the heat and creamy tang of the buttermilk was just an explosion of flavor.

For my entree selection I chose the Summer Steak Frites. I'm just a sucker for steak and frites and whenever I see it on a menu, I order it. The petite tender filet medallions with house fries and au poivre sauce made with black peppercorn were delicious.

The BBQ Baby Back Ribs should be a permanent addition to the Canvas menu. They were awesome in every way. The ribs are slow cooked Carolina style and have a nice baked on glaze that was savory with a touch of sweet. The collard greens and jalapeno corn bread were as southern as it gets and were perfect pairings for these ribs.

For dessert we ordered the Seasonal Upside Down Cake, which was a pineapple upside down cake with vanilla bean gelato. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess to end our night.

The Restaurant part of Canvas is open Monday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Friday and Saturday from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm and Sunday from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The Bar Opens daily at 3:00 pm, and the market is open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Magical Dining Month runs from August 29th until October 2nd. Stop by Canvas Restaurant and Market and check them out to get a taste of some of the excellent food that is being offered up by Chef Bryan Thoman and his staff at an exceptional price.

Eleven at Reunion Resort

7593 Gathering Drive
Kissimmee, FL 34747
(407-662-1000)

One of the many great things about Visit Orlando's Magical Dining Month, is that it also includes a great deal called Magical Nights at some of the finest resorts and hotels in Orlando. There are over seventy restaurants participating this year and over twenty hotels are participating in the Magical Nights program.

Magical Dining Month is the month long program from the folks at Visit Orlando where participating restaurants feature three-course, prix fixe dinners at the exceptional value of $33 per person. Magical Nights offers guests the opportunity to make the magical dining experience a truly memorable occasion by turning it into an overnight stay.

Many of the Magical Dining restaurants are located in area hotels and resorts, and are offering a special stay and dine package that includes hotel accommodations and a Magical Dining dinner for two. This year Reunion Resort and their beautiful indoor / outdoor restaurant that goes by the name of Eleven is participating in the program.

Eleven, as you may have guessed is on the eleventh floor of the Reunion Grande, the resorts most luxurious one and two bedroom villas. The restaurant is very chic and upscale and features an outdoor roof top lounge that offers stunning views of the skyline and the nightly fireworks display from Disney's Magic Kingdom. The menu at Eleven is full of handcrafted cocktails and steakhouse favorites that showcases prime cuts of beef with rubs, sauces, and other enhancements available to add to your selection.

The Magical Dining Menu goes as follows:

The first of two appetizer choices is a very refreshing Strawberry & Mandarin Orange Salad made with mixed greens, caramelized pecans, sun-dried tomato, goat cheese, and raspberry dressing.

If you are not in the mood for a salad, the Fried Calamari with
Sun-Dried Tomato and Tarragon Aioli,  is your second choice for an appetizer. The calamari was breaded very delicately and was quite delicious.

There are three different entree selections to choose from.
The Organic Tanglewood Farms Chicken with a citrus braised kale, havarti polenta, and a tomato demi glaze was an excellent dish.

One of my favorites was the Bourbon Glazed Salmon with a sweet corn and bacon sauté. The glaze was not overly sweet, and went really well with the Norwegian salmon.

For you steak lovers, the Grilled Hanger Steak with whipped potatoes, haricot verts, and chimichurri will not disappoint. Very tender slices of steak packed with flavor in every bite.

If you want to end your meal on a lighter note, I would suggest choosing one of the Vanilla, Chocolate, Mango, or Blackberry Gelato selections for desert. All flavors were fresh and delicious.

If you want a traditional desert, go with the Crème Brulee. Simple, yet elegant and creamy.

The Reunion resort is a spectacular place to visit, even if its just for dinner. As mentioned earlier, at around 9:00 pm or so, if you are at Eleven restaurant, you do not want to miss the wonderful fireworks display from the neighboring Magic Kingdom.

Magical dining, magical food and magical fireworks are sure to impress just about anyone, but for a real special treat, book the Magical Night package. For just $225.00 per night you and a guest will enjoy one night in a 1 bedroom deluxe suite and dinner for two at Eleven Restaurant, and that will be a night not soon forgotten.

Reunion Resort features three signature golf courses designed by golf’s greatest legends: Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Arnold Palmer and they are the only resort in America with an ANNIKA Academy facility on site. The resort also boasts 10 swimming pools and a water park as well, so you can spend the day splashing around the water park, or play tennis on one of the six lighted tennis courts.
