Duffy’s is a sports grill, that is based in Lake Worth, Florida and operates 35 full-service, casual-dining restaurants, all of which are located in Florida.

Established in 1985, the Duffy's brand has become a regional market leader known for top quality casual dining with an emphasis on freshly prepared ingredients and grilled items.

Duffy’s boasts a distinctly upscale sports environment complete with satellite programming, more than 75 TVs per location, and framed authentic sports memorabilia throughout each restaurant. Whether it's catching your favorite game, enjoying some Surf & Turf options or breaking out your Lederhosen for Oktoberfest, Duffy’s Sports Grill is sure to offer something for everyone.

I have always been a fan of Duffy’s and enjoy the food and drinks they offer up and all of the options to get your sports fix, but recently they have added some seasonal items to the menu that are worth checking out.

Duffy’s has recently started featuring freshly prepared, made from scratch dishes such as their Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl, seafood sensations such as Lobster Tacos and Jumbo Lump Crab Mac & Cheese and a wide variety of signature salads. Some of their specialty handcrafted cocktails include sips such as a Gummy Bear Mojito and a Cotton Candy Cosmo and more.

With a reasonably priced menu of tasty food, and all day 2 for 1 drink specials, It’s easy to see what all the fuss is about. Duffy’s menu features freshly prepared ingredients and grilled items that has everything from Chinese chopped salads to Churrasco steak. Guests can enjoy signature favorites such as Duffy’s BBQ baby back ribs, half pound certified Angus beef burgers, grilled to order steaks and much more.

A fresh draught beer and The Gummy Bear Mojito that is made with Malibu Coconut Rum, fresh lime and mint, and of course gummy bears.

The Fried Mushrooms with horseradish cream and spicy kickin' bayou sauce were pretty tasty.

Coconut Crusted Grouper Fingers feature pieces of grouper hand breaded with sweetened coconut and Panko bread crumbs and are served with a spicy orange ginger sauce.

The Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl is pretty good, especially for a sports bar. This is Ahi Tuna tossed in a signature poke sauce over cilantro-lime rice and topped with avocado, scallions, nori and toasted sesame seeds.

The Apple Tart-Tini is a perfect drink for the holiday season, and it's deceptively smooth and delicious.

Jumbo Lump Crab Macaroni & Cheese is full of succulent jumbo lump crab meat with corkscrew pasta in a creamy blend of four cheeses. This is also a really good dish for a sports bar. Very creamy and rich with great flavors.

When you visit Duffy’s, make sure to save room for the Crunchy Fried Cheesecake. This is a warm fried cheesecake served with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, Ghirardelli caramel sauce, whipped cream and a cherry, and it’s heavenly.

Duffy's has re-imagined and elevated the sports grill dining experience. All of the food we sampled was delicious and the drinks were made properly. As far as sports grills go, Duffy's is pretty hard to top.

The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and offers a great combination of high quality food, affordable prices and great hospitality with great drink specials. Duffy's is big on providing a community atmosphere and really does a great job of it by offering something for everyone.

Every Tuesday, Duffy’s is also offering their signature Cheeseburger, 1/2 lb. burger and two slices of your choice of cheese, for just $5.99.

Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse

9150 International Dr.
Orlando, FL 32819
407-351-5074

Back in August, I shared with you the news of the all new Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House that opened up on I-Drive in Orlando, you can see more of it Here if you need a refresher.

Although I did sample all kinds of wonderful appetizers, I didn't really get to sample the good stuff...steak. So I was delighted to return for another preview of what turned out to be a meat lover's dream come true.

As I mentioned in my first blog post, the Del Frisco’s brand was born more than 20 years ago, and embodies the rich tradition of the classic American steakhouse, with impeccable chef-driven cuisine, an extensive award-winning wine list and unparalleled hospitality.

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House features a sizable, diverse wine list of more than 1,200 labels, to include a number of notable verticals from both old and new world producers. With two floors that include two bars, four private dining rooms and a picturesque patio, Del Frisco’s Orlando boasts over 400 seats. I'm sure you appreciate that information, but lets get right to all this wonderful food.

To help wash down all of the flavors, we were treated to Del Frisco’s Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and a Sonoma Cutrer Russian River Ranch Chardonnay. The cocktail of the evening was The VIP, which is Del Frisco’s signature cocktail made with clementine vodka infused in a full pineapple for 14 days.

The Shellfish Plateau features chilled Alaskan king crab legs, iced jumbo shrimp, fresh oysters on the half shell, chilled crab claws & traditional garnishes.

The Petite Crab Cakes were nice chunks of crab meat and Cajun lobster sauce sitting on top of a delicious basil brioche.

A wonderful twist on Pork Belly was the Thick Cut Bacon Au Poivre with Bourbon Molasses Glaze. This was loaded with flavor and had plenty of savory with an equal amount of sweet.

I love a good lamb cooked properly, and the the Lamb Lollipop’s with a pomegranate mint glaze were pretty amazing.

The Tuna Tartare featured strikingly fresh tuna, crisp wonton and wasabi cream with micro cilantro.

Filet Mignon may be a common steak to order, but rest assured, Del Frisco’s will make sure your filet is extraordinary.

The Prime Strip Steak had a wonderful seasoning on it and melted in your mouth.

Ribeye is one of my favorites, next to a good strip steak, and the Prime Rib Eye Steak I tasted at Del Frisco’s was heavenly.

Here is some more beautiful steak footage to make you drool.

Some of the evenings desserts included a Lemon Cake with lemon buttercream icing and lemon glaze, Chocolate Souffle Cake with a warm molten center chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, and raspberry sauce and a Butter Cake with butter pecan ice cream, fresh whipped cream & caramel sauce. All of which were delicious.

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse is open for Dinner from Monday through Saturday from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm and Sunday from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Lunch is served Monday to Friday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill

1562 North Mills Avenue
"The Market at Mills Park"
Orlando, FL 32803
407-581-9861

The first Florida location of Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is officially open for business in Winter Park at The Market at Mills Park located at 1562 North Mills Ave. in front of Fresh Market.

The restaurant specializes in aged steaks, fresh seafood, chicken and ribs seared over an authentic wood fired grill. Firebirds is Known for its Classic American cuisine infused with bold flavors, fresh herbs and spices. Winter Park guests will enjoy the high quality selections at moderate prices, top-notch service and warm ambiance that have made Firebirds successful at all 34 locations nationwide.

Firebirds CEO Mark Eason is a Winter Park native and has strong ties to the area. He has more than 35 years of restaurant industry experience working for companies such as Steak & Ale, Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon and Bertucci’s.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill believes in supporting the community, using local firewood and making every recipe in-house with the freshest ingredients. The Winter Park Firebirds will also feature artwork by local artist Leslie Neumann. Her critically acclaimed, enchanting landscapes of Florida’s coast have been featured in exhibits at all 34 Firebirds locations nationwide.

From the Chile Rubbed Delmonico to the Bleu Cheese Filet, each steak is hand-cut and grilled to perfection. Other signature items such as the Wood Grilled Salmon, Firebirds BLT Salad, Lobster Spinach Queso and Creme Brulée Cheesecake are also prepared on site from start to finish. A Kids’ Menu with items approved by the National Restaurant Association’s Kids LiveWell program, includes Grilled Chicken, Sirloin Steak and more, with the choice of two sides.

The 7,450-square-foot restaurant features an exhibition kitchen, an indoor stone fireplace, and two “wine walls” in the dining room and at the host stand. The award-winning FIREBAR™, complete with a waterfall of colorful bottles, hosts a selection of private Firebirds label wines and specialty cocktails such as the Double Black Diamond Martini® infused with natural, fresh pineapple for 21 days. In addition, the cozy outdoor patio features its own bar embellished with unique red art glass across the back, a sophisticated steel bar top and upscale chilled wine bin. Dark woods, vivid colors and comfortable seating create a cozy and intimate dining room setting.

Tastes of Orlando was invited to a special soft opening test run and was able to sample a few dishes and cocktails. Everything we ate tasted pretty spectacular, especially the Chile Rubbed Delmonico Steak. Although I do not comment much as to the service a restaurant provides during a soft opening, the staff at Firebirds did a fairly decent job for a test run.

We started our evening off with the Lobster Spinach Queso.

This is a house favorite, and I thought all the flavors of this queso blended perfectly well together.

The BLT Salad is another house favorite dish. It was light, refreshing, and loaded with tasty bacon.

The salads are pretty big at Firebirds, so two people can easily split one salad.

Firebirds specializes in meats, and the hand carved Prime Rib encrusted with fresh herbs and pepper, is pretty spectacular.

The Prime Rib is available in 12oz. or 16oz. size. I ordered the 12oz., and had plenty leftover.

The Chile Rubbed Delmonico was an instant favorite. This is a 12oz. steak rubbed down with chile and other spices, then seared to lock the in the flavors.

For desert I ordered the Creme Brulee Cheesecake.

Firebirds cheesecake is very good. It is light and airy, so its not heavy at all and it's topped with caramelized sugar for the brule part and has a strawberry drizzle.

Firebirds is open Monday – Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday – Saturday from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. Half-priced appetizers and drink specials from the FIREBAR™ are served from 4 – 6:30 p.m. at both the bar and outdoor patio. The restaurant also offers banquet services, catering and gift cards. In addition, guests can register for Firebirds’ E-Club to receive exclusive offers, promotions and a birthday gift.
