Castaway's Sports Bar and Grill

Taking over the old Buffalo Wild Wings Location on Alafaya Trail in 2017, is Castaway’s Sports bar & Grill, A beach themed sports bar and grill with an outstanding food and liquor menu.

They are not a corporate chain like the former tenants, as they are locally owned and operated. The owner, Andrew grew up loving the beaches in Jupiter, and like many of their staff members came to Orlando to attend the University of Central Florida. He also had a dream of owning a Bar and Grill.

Castaway’s is a beach themed sports bar and grill with 37 HD 65" flat screen TV's, 6 HD 110" projection screens with 20 plus specialty drinks and signature cast iron cooked seafood and build your own burgers.

The menu here has plenty of options with a variety of seafood appetizers, onion rings, tots, wings, burgers, sandwiches, tacos and daily specials with a pretty decent cocktail menu.

Much of the overall design from the BW's days is still in tact, but with an Island Vibe and a more focused menu that includes way more than just wings. In addition to keeping the TV’s they added some pool tables and a saltwater aquarium at the bar.

The Island Smoked Fish Dip with wild caught Mahi hot smoked, jalapenos and club crackers was really good.

Mango Pineapple Mojito on the left with Captain Morgan Coconut Rum, and a Florida Mule on the right with Deep Eddy Orange Vodka. We also had a Category 5 Hurricane here that pretty much knocked me on my ass. All Cocktails were strong and delicious.

For $6.00 on the late night menu at Castaway’s, you can get these volcano strips with a variety of sauces and some really good tots....this is a great option if you plan on drinking more and eating less, as its plenty for 1 person.

Wilson's Beer and Cheese Bacon Dog is a half pound dog served on a sub roll covered in beer Cheese and Bacon. We got the Onion Rings for an up charge at an additional $1.29 as our side.

The Philly Cheesesteak here is made with hand shaved Angus beef Ribeye, loaded with caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, sweet peppers and jalapenos drizzled with beer cheese and topped with provolone. A bit different than a traditional Philly, but good nonetheless, and the sweet potato waffle fries were excellent.

The Bar at Castaway’s has plenty of alcohol to make the cocktail magic happen, and plenty of TV’s so you never miss a moment.

Pool Tables are an addition to the original Buffalo Wild Wings spot that Castaway’s took over, and I think they are a good addition.

Castaway’s is open from 11:00 am to 2:00 am everyday of the week, and they have daily specials like $12.99 all you can eat wings on Wednesday and a daily happy hour and late night menu with reduced prices on select items.

We will definitely return here and try some wings and other menu items and look forward to their continued success.

In addition to 500 craft beers and 40 rotating taps daily, WOB is once again adding some seasonal change to the menu with a variety of delicious food that pairs perfectly to whatever you’re drinking at the moment.

At the Downtown Orlando location, they have been promoting the the signature “Tavern Fare” menu that features a variety of elevated comfort food that provides the perfect marriage of food and beer for the ultimate experience.

This year World of Beer Downtown Orlando has added five seasonal menu items in addition to two WOB collaborated, limited-release beers to feature on the all new “Fall Plates and Pints” menu. This menu focuses on a more seasonal lineup of pub inspired foods that is creative, but still has something for everyone.

The limited release menu items include such things like the Prosciutto & Spiced Apple Flatbread, PB&J Wings, Green Chili Chicken Nachos, WOBtoberfest Brat Burger and a sweet ending with Pumpkin Spice Apple Donuts.

Green Chili Chicken Nachos are perfect for gameday or any day, with corn tortilla chips smothered in green chili chicken, spicy cheese, tomatoes, green onion, jalapeno peppers and chopped cilantro. This is paired with a Stone IPA.

The Prosciutto & Spiced Apple Flatbread was pretty tasty with Prosciutto ham and spiced apple, topped with toasted hazelnuts and goat cheese. This is paired with the WOB limited release from Dogfish Head called Fall On Me, a Belgian-style Farmhouse Ale with apples and fall spices.

The PB&J Wings are crispy wings glazed in blackberry balsamic jelly and drizzled with spicy peanut butter sauce and served with a blackberry jam and peanut butter dipping sauce. A bit unusual, but it worked. The wings are paired with the WOB limited release from Stone called Mixtape Vol. 14 – The Gatekeeper, a Russian Imperial Stout and IPA blend with figs and plums.

The WOBtoberfest Brat Burger is a mouthful of a beef burger topped with a beer brat, house made stone ground mustard, sauerkraut, beer cheese sauce and caramelized onions on a toasted brioche bun. Pair it with a Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA.

Pumpkin Spice Apple Donuts are the perfect way to celebrate the harvest, and to end your visit to WOB. These are traditional German fried apple donuts dusted with pumpkin spice sugar and paired with salted caramel for dipping. A Cider of your choice is good to pair it with.

The Gatekeeper, a Russian Imperial Stout and IPA blend with figs and plums is pretty serious. For this WOB limited release, Stone mixed it up by blending their Russian Imperial Stouts with their IPA, then adding figs, plum and Hallertau Blanc hops.

The Fall Pints and Plates menu is only available for a limited time, so get to your local WOB and try it out soon. The food was really good, and of course the beer was even better.

In case you didn't know, July 29th is National Chicken Wing Day. Yes… It is a real day, but sadly, it has not been declared a national holiday as of yet. Don’t let that stop you from asking your employer if you are off on Wednesday, July 29th though, because National Chicken Wing Day is a culturally vital event celebrating one of America’s most important foods: chicken wings.

National Chicken Wing Day is religiously and politically neutral. There are no controversial or abrasive aspects of National Chicken Wing Day. Studies have shown that most American businesses observe lunch and wings are a great lunch resource. Best of all, on Wednesday, July 29th, National Chicken Wing Day, East Coast Wings & Grill is giving away 6 FREE Honey Barbecue wings with every adult entree purchase.

East Coast Wings & Grill caters to chicken wing lovers by offering dozens of varying chicken wing flavors that can be paired with nine heat intensities—resulting in hundreds of delicious choices. The extensive menu also includes salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers and more. The atmosphere is relaxed, family friendly but with plenty of TVs to watch all your favorite events.

East Coast Wings is committed to only using the highest quality ingredients. The jumbo wings are fresh never frozen. The sauces are prepared in-house and mixed to order. The chips are hand sliced from Idaho potatoes and cooked in small batches throughout the day. All of this attention to detail makes the food delicious.

One of my favorite appetizers are the Pub Pretzels served with your choice of Bourbon Honey Mustard or Sam Adams Craft Beer Cheese Sauce.

If bones aren't your thing, ECW has plenty of boneless options.

Sweet & Sour BBQ Shrimp Tacos feature lightly seasoned grilled shrimp smothered with sweet & sour BBQ sauce, pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, chipotle sour cream, and aged
shredded cheddar cheese.

Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps with baby romaine lettuce leaves and diced sautéed chicken breast, carrots, onions, and celery all tossed with wing sauce (choose from mild, medium, hot, or x-hot)

The ECW Buffalo Chicken Sandwich starts with seasoned chicken breast chargrilled or hand breaded to order, dipped in wing sauce (choose from mild, medium, hot, or x-hot), topped with melted provolone cheese, then stacked on sliced tomatoes, shredded lettuce and ECW Signature Ranch on a lightly grilled bun.

The dessert lover in you will love the Original Cookie Skillet with chocolate chip cookies baked fresh on a skillet and topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce.

If Monday’s are boring, you can stop by ECW from 6:00pm to 9:00pm for “All You Can Eat Wings" for only $12.99. The Wings are served with homemade chips, Texas toast, celery, carrots and dressing.

So get on out to East Coast Wings & Grill and get your chicken wing thing on for National Chicken Wing Day, or any day for that matter.

East Coast Wings & Grill is open Sunday – Thursday from 11AM – 10PM and Friday & Saturday from 11AM – 11PM.
