F&D Woodfired Italian Kitchen is now open in Longwood, the second location is serving woodfired pizza and classic Italian dishes.

F&D Woodfired Italian Kitchen is firing up its famed oven and serving craveable pizza and Italian favorites to the community of Longwood. The eatery’s newest location is now open for lunch and dinner.

The Italian Kitchen was founded in Orlando’s Hourglass District in 2018 and has since grown quickly into an Orlando favorite. This spurred the development of the second location in Longwood, located in the old Bayridge Sushi spot at 1000 W. State Road 434.

“We’re incredibly excited to open the doors on our newest concept,” said Charly Robinson, owner and founder of the F&D family of restaurants. “We’ve been getting inquiries from fans every day as they drive past the location and watch the development, so we know they’re excited, too. We look forward to bringing our passion for great food to a new community in Central Florida.”

F&D Woodfired Italian Kitchen is known for serving Neapolitan woodfired pizza and classic Italian dishes, including pasta from Trevi Pasta in College Park. The eatery blends a hip, inviting atmosphere with friendly service and an emphasis on quality, natural ingredients.


In addition to an outstanding menu of favorites, F&D Woodfired Italian Kitchen offers daily specials, carryout deals and weekend brunch, as well as an impressive selection of beer and wine and wine-based cocktails. The restaurant also offers vegan options.

At Smokey Bones, they specialize in three things: good food, good drinks, and good times. They are a bar and fire grill, but not necessarily in that order. 

The people here are grill masters who respect the power of the open flame, with simple, yet flavorful recipes and believe marinating is not to be taken lightly. They know medium-rare isn’t the only way to cook a steak, but believe it should be.

Smokey Bones believes pork should be slow smoked and pulled often, slow, as in 11 hours over hickory logs every night, and often, as in every day at every restaurant.

Their bartenders make drinks great, not the liquor. Although the liquor doesn’t hurt, They think beer should be ice cold and consumed regularly.

In addition to great BBQ and food, they are also big fans of sports, loud music, and surprises with laughter and good times had by all.

Currently, More than ninety percent of Smokey Bones restaurants now have dine in service as well as its robust curbside pick up and delivery options.

Skillet Cornbread was sweet and savory with a pecan butter and a great way to start our meal.

Blackberry Lemonade with Bourbon on the left and a Cucumber Smash with Vodka on the right served in mason jars are great cocktails with a twist.

These Smoked Wings were simply amazing, so full of flavor, tender, juicy and just fell right off the bone, a definite highlight of all the food we had here.

The Smokehouse Sampler includes 1/3rd of a slab of ribs and 1/4 lb. of pulled pork with your choice of slides, we chose BBQ baked beans and fire roasted corn. These ribs were pretty impressive, super tender and cooked perfectly and the pulled pork was really good also, as well as the sides.

Donuts, As they are simply called on the menu are a long standing staple of Smokey Bones. These are fried, tossed into a bag full of sugar and cinnamon then shaken up and served with chocolate and strawberry dipping sauces. I highly recommend these tasty treats.


Just in time for summer and Father’s Day, Smokey Bones BBQ is bringing back Bone-Fire, platter of barbecued meats and sides.....

The new Winter Park Location was previously occupied by Paris Bistro, and the folks at Tabla did an amazing redo of the interior with white stone work, mirrors, wine racks and new dining tables and chairs. In fact, it is so nice inside, one would think you are at a fancy high end restaurant, but it is a perfect redo for the Winter Park Crowd.

A Tabla is a pair of small drums that have been fundamental to Hindustani music of northern India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh since the 18th century. Much like the musical sounds and instruments used in traditional Indian music, the foods found in those regions have become fundamental in shaping cuisine all over the world.

The menu features a great mix of Indian, Chinese and Thai flavors and spices with classic dishes and new twists on old favorites. That's what makes tabla so unique.

You can find Thai green curry and basil fried rice for a taste of Thailand, or fresh from the tandoor kebabs, chicken tikka, and garlic naan for a taste of India and classics like general tso’s chicken with a side of crab rangoon for your Chinese food cravings.

For something really tasty, the Indo-Chinese fusion dishes like the cauliflower Manchurian and lemon coriander soup are pretty exciting as well, as are the artistic versions of classics like mango tiramisu and gulab jamun brulee.

Tabla’s chef, Sajan Premajan is a culinary artist known for his original and inventive food presentations, which he attributes to his traditional training and inspiration from his Asian heritage. Tabla Cuisine is now in two great locations, Tabla Indian Restaurant in Orlando and Tabla Indian Restaurant in Winter Park.

A sparkling Rose and a Woodpecker beer from India. Both do a great job of cooling your mouth down and enhancing the flavors of Indo-Chinese foods.

Gobi Manchurian, is a good twist on Indo-Chinese food. Gobi Adraki is traditional Indian cuisine, but tossing the crispy fried cauliflower in Tabla’s signature Manchurian sauce makes this a perfect crossover dish. It is one of my all time favorite appetizers.

Garlic Naan...Garlic Naan... is anything better than this wholesome and delicious warm and crusty Garlic Naan from Tabla?

The delicious sauces served with your pappadum are actually a Chutney. The green one, called hari chutney in Hindi, is generally made with a mixture of coriander, mint, sugar, salt, turmeric and a pinch of lime juice and of course curry powder. The red chutney, called imli chutney in Hindi, is very often made with the juice of tamarind (imli in Hindi). Tamarind is soaked in water, strained and mixed with sugar, rock salt, toasted and ground cumin, dry powdered ginger, and powdered pepper. Pappadum is a thin crisp round or rolled Indian flatbread that is fried.

Butter Chicken, a North Indian Delicacy is made in a rich buttery Tomato Cream Sauce with chunks of chicken and served with a side of Basmati rice. This is a tasty and fragrant dish that is absolutely mouthwatering at Tabla.

Although I asked what is better than Garlic Naan previously, I can tell you Red Pepper Spicy Naan is either 1 B, or a very close second. Chef Premajan did not hold back on us and gave us super hot and spicy naan that was excellent, and full of flavor.

Certainly everything Chef Premajan serves up at Tabla is excellent, but we were blown away by the Palak Gosht with Bone-in Goat cooked in braised Spinach and Garlic with a Tomato-Onion Masala. Simply some of the most delicious, tender and flavorful goat I have ever had, and the masala mixture was phenomenal.

When ordering food at Tabla, most dishes can made according to your heat levels, aside of items like Chicken Vindaloo, which the can not be altered, so if you love some good Indian Heat, a nice ending of Chocolate Samosa with Masala Chai Latte Ice Cream and chocolate drizzle is not only a great ending, but a great way to cool your mouth off.


Tabla Winter Park is open Monday to Thursday from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM, Friday & Saturday from 11:30 AM – 10:00 PM and Sunday: 11:30 AM – 9:00 PM

Both locations serve up excellent Indo-Chinese fare, and the food is really impressive, but the new Winter Park location has definitely stepped up the game with a beautiful remodel and elegant atmosphere.

Latin Square is a hidden gem in the downtown area. If you work downtown, chances are you are familiar with this wonderful little place and what it offers. 

During the lock down from Covid-19, Latin Square took the time to refurbish and update the interior of the restaurant, which has always been a to-go set up. 

The inside of Latin Square is small and everything is made to go. They offer a variety of traditional dishes such as Picadillo, Ropa Vieja, Cuban Sandwiches and Oven Roasted Chicken. You can also find items like Cuban Gumbo,Tuna Sandwiches, a Chupe Soup on Thursdays and Grilled Salmon on Fridays.

For that little pick me up, Latin Square has a nice selection of espresso's, cafe con leches, pastries and other desserts.

The service is always fast and friendly at Latin Square, and the food is always hot and good. They do a great job of making you feel like long lost family here, and you will not be disappointed with whatever you order.

Chupe is a generic term used in South America to describe a variety of stews generally made with chicken, red meat, lamb or beef tripe and other offal, or with fish, shrimp, crayfish or shellfish and vegetables, potatoes or yuca. Chupe is available on Thursdays at Latin Square and is a thick and delicious stew made with chicken and served with a side of mixed vegetables. 

They make an excellent Cuban at Latin Square, so I was a bit disappointed when they ran out of pork and I could not have the traditional Cuban, but they offered me one with shredded chicken instead, and it was quite tasty!

Always great sides…. Sweet Plantains and Morro, a combination of black beans and rice, already combined together.

The Pepito is made with grilled steak, chicken or roasted pork, Swiss cheese, onion, lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro sauce, garlic sauce, pink sauce and potato sticks and is muy excelente!!

A Quesito is always a perfect ending to any visit to Latin Square.

The food here is always good, and the people that run it are even better, stop by sometime and grab a cafe con con leche and a Cuban sandwich and of course a quesito, you’ll be glad you did.

Latin Square is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. They are closed Saturday and Sunday.

A new Philly Cheesesteak restaurant called Loading Zone Philly Steaks has opened in Downtown Orlando in the former home of Beth’s Burger Bar at 24 E. Washington Street a few months ago.

They specialize in making authentic Philly Cheese steaks. Although there are many variations of what Authentic actually is, at Loading Zone that means thinly sliced, sauteed ribeye beef, Cheese Whiz or American cheese/Provolone, and a long crusty roll to soak up all the juices.

They have all your traditional Cheese Steaks here as well as standard Mushroom Cheese Steak, Pepper Cheese Steak and a Fully Loaded Cheese Steak. The menu also includes some variations like a Pizzaroni,Chipotle, Buffalo and Teriyaki Steak sandwiches.

In addition to the hot Cheese Steaks, they also have a selection of Cold Hoagies with items like a White Tuna Hoagie, Veggie Hoagie, Turkey Hoagie and a special Italian with Prosciutto.

Loading Zone also offers a wide variety of salads and sides that includes a Cheese Steak Salad, a Crispy Chicken Salad and a Greek Salad among others. Sides include fries, chips, tots, sweet potato fries, chicken tenders and Whiz Tots.

I started with a traditional Philly Cheese steak and Fries covered in Whiz, which was simply amazing.

The Buffalo Cheese steak is made with white American cheese, onions and is tossed in a buffalo sauce for a nice bit of heat. We opted for the the Whiz Tots for our side, and they did not disappoint.

We grabbed a Chefs Salad on our way out to have for the next day. It was more than enough for two people and loaded with meats and toppings.

Monday to Wednesday, 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, Friday to Sunday, 11:00 am to 1:00 am. They are currently doing pick up and delivery orders only right now. When they fully reopen, they are normally open until 3:00 am Wednesday to Saturday.

Chef Laurent Hollaender has put together an eclectic menu that will tempt you outside of your comfort zone to a meal that will satisfy more than your hunger. Some new additions to the menu include some Vegan items like Vegan Linguine Bolognese, Beet Poke Bowl and a Spiced Chickpea and Lentil Soup, all of which were fabulous by the way.

The Boheme has also incorporated the use of Black Bee Honey in some it’s cocktails and various food items. Black Bee Honey is a non-profit organization run by young entrepreneurs from the Parramore and Holden Heights communities in Orlando, with a mission to turn communities from food deserts to food oases. 


We started with a tasting of some new and standard appetizers like this staple, Tomato and Burrata with heirloom tomatoes, olive oil, aged balsamic, fresh oregano, fleur de sel & cracked pepper.

Beef Carpaccio is also another standard menu item at The Boheme, made with marinated dry aged Wagyu, shaved Parmesan, arugula, crispy capers and mustard aioli.

Grilled Peach Salad is a new addition that is perfect for spring and summer, this salad was very good and refreshing with field greens, pecans, goat cheese, raspberries, cornbread croutons and a fig & sherry vinaigrette.

Calamari is served family style, so there is more than enough to share. With a nice batter on the calamari, jalapenos, olives, piquillo peppers, capote capers, Meyer lemon, oregano, Moroccan harissa sauce, this is definitely a notable dish with distinct flavors not found on most calamari offerings.

I really found the Beet Poke Bowl very interesting and quite tasty. This is one of the new Vegan items with marinated beets, kimchi cucumbers, radish, carrots, grilled scallions, avocado and jasmine rice.

Vegan Linguine Bolognese was simply outstanding, I could not believe this tasted so good, made with ground cauliflower, mushrooms, carrots, onions, pumpkin seeds and sun dried tomatoes topped with cashew Parmesan.

Spiced Chickpea and Lentil Soup is also part of the new Vegan selection at The Boheme, this was a very savory and tasty soup with onions, carrot, turmeric, fried chickpeas, lemon and micro greens.

After all the Vegan dishes, It was time for some meat… and this new addition to the menu, a 42 oz. 1855 Beef Tomahawk was a show stopper. This gets Flambeed and carved table side and is served with grilled asparagus, grape tomatoes, yukon gold potatoes, yellow beet mash and a side of Porcini mushroom Sauce… simply amazing!

We ended our evening with a refreshing Blueberry Lavender Gelato and this excellent Black Bee Honey Cheesecake with orange blossom honey cheesecake, Grand Marnier caramel sauce and a honeycomb waffle crisp.

Located moments away from downtown’s cultural gems, as well as Orlando’s magical theme parks, The Grand Bohemian Hotel fosters a setting that celebrates creativity and inspires the soul, and the same can be said for The Boheme Restaurant .

Chef Laurent Hollaender and his staff have done a wonderful job of upholding quality menu items that taste just as good as they look and will encourage you to try something new and exciting.


The Boheme is open on Sundays as well for some of the best brunch in downtown Orlando. They are open daily for dinner from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm, and on Sunday they close at 9:00pm. Sunday Brunch is from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Antonios Trattoria and Wine Bar started out as a place to grab a good slice of pizza, enjoy some salad and wings and a glass of wine or two. The inside was complete with exposed brick walls, a rather basic menu and red and white checkered tablecloths.

In the last few months, things have drastically changed, and they are now focused on a Trattoria Italian-style eating establishment that is generally less formal than a ristorante, but more formal than an osteria.

In Tuscany, a Trattoria rooted in tradition may typically provide no printed menu, casual service, wine sold by the decanter rather than the bottle, and low prices, with an emphasis on a steady clientele rather than on haute cuisine. Food tends to be modest but plentiful (mostly following regional and local recipes).

Inside Antonios is definitely more of an authentic Trattoria with the redo that was done. The walls have decorations on them, the red and white checkered tablecloths have been upgraded to white linen, and the vibe is definitely upscale, but still very casual with modest pricing, and the pizza is a thing of the past.

Food here focuses on traditional Northern and Southern Italian cuisine with dishes that reflect the regions very adequately. Sauces are made fresh with the highest quality ingredients delivered daily.

The heart of Antonio’s is in their food, they work hard and do good with simple cuisine that reflects the regions from which the food comes from. They are eager to share the family traditions with you and welcome you to the family, too.

I usually don't post about free complimentary bread offered at most restaurants, but this bread at Antonio’s was special. Fresh, Crisp, and loaded with Parmessan and a very fine Extra Virgin Olive Oil, I can gladly tell you, we ate the whole loaf.

I love a good Buratta, and the one served up here is pretty awesome. Burrata Pugliese E Parma Prosciutto features some exceptional Burrata, arugula, fresh tomatoes, Parma ham, roasted peppers and Modena balsamic reduction.

If you love a great Carpaccio, like I do, then look no more… Carpaccio di Manzo con Rucola and Parmigiano is simply amazing, this dish is made with thinly sliced filet mignon, arugula, shaved reggiano and truffle oil, and is hands down some of the best I've ever had.

Northern Italian fare is really based in Butter and Cream sauces, rather than traditional red sauces, and Tortellini con Panna E Piselli at Anthony’s is a great example of that, this is a magnificent pasta dish that is made with Veal stuffed tortellini, pancetta and peas in a reggiano cream sauce. This was simply outstanding.

On the left we have Filetto di Sogliola alla Francese, a Sole fillet Francese style in a chardonnay lemon sauce that was so flavorful and just fell to pieces when going for a bite, and a very great piece of Sole fillet. On the right is Scaloppine di Vitello alla Valdostana, a Veal scaloppini topped with prosciutto, fontina cheese and sage in chardonnay sauce over sautéed spinach.

Although we would have loved one of the many great desserts Antonio’s offers, like a fine cannoli, we settled for a really great espresso made with Julius Meinl coffee from Vienna, which was very strong, delicious and reinvigorating.

Whether you prefer a dish inspired by northern Italian cooking such as Tortellini con Panna E Piselli or a southern Italian delight inspired by the bright lively Mediterranean taste that most people associate with Italian cuisine, you’ll find the same commitment to bold yet balanced flavor common to all great Italian cooking at Antonio’s La Trattoria.
