Say goodbye to the former North Quarter Tavern and hello to City Pub.

Craig Ustler, the well known developer, who is heavily involved in the Downtown Orlando Creative Village, amongst many other things, decided in late 2017 that it was time to relinquish North Quarter Tavern.

He decided to start an operating partnership with Church Street Entertainment, a name that should be synonymous with most Orlando locals, as they already own such popular downtown spots like Ember, Latitudes, Cahoots, Chillers, Irish Shannon’s, 180 Skytop Lounge and Crafted.

For over 27 years, Church Street Entertainment and its principals have locally owned and operated bars and restaurants in downtown Orlando, and they have now brought their passion and expertise to the North Quarter District.

From owners to bartenders, old timers to newcomers, the City PUB team takes pride in living and working in the neighborhood and helping the local community thrive.

Located in the heart of the North Quarter District in Downtown Orlando, the interior of City Pub features high top and dining room seating with multiple TV's so you never miss your favorite game with artwork that displays the history of Orlando dotted along the walls.

The menu features classic and remastered pub favorites that is handcrafted and chef driven. Executive Chef, Adam Dierks takes the lead in the kitchen and offers a distinctive menu that includes bar snacks, appetizers, savory salads, shareable dishes, classic pub favorites and heartier entrees.

Next door to City Pub is the sister space… Bitters and Bottles. This is a sophisticated yet comfortable night spot in Downtown Orlando, that is the only spot in the North Quarter District serving craft cocktails and a curated wine list alongside the chef driven bar snacks.

City Pub has a comfortable bar with seating around all sides that serves local craft beers and a variety of handcrafted cocktails.

We started our evening with Dirty Chips that feature yuca chips, sweet potato chips, dried parsnips and beets with an amazing garlic cream dipping sauce.

The Hummus was as fresh and tasty as it gets with chickpea hummus, English cucumber, carrots, pickled beets, grilled artichoke hearts and grilled pita bread.

For a sampling of cocktails from the bar at City Pub, we ordered the House Margarita with Patron and sweet agave nectar on the left and an old fashioned with Bulleit bourbon on the right.

We really enjoyed the Grilled Salmon entree with Zellwood corn risotto, grilled asparagus and a lemon beurre blanc sauce. The salmon was flaky and cooked perfectly and when combined with a bite of the risotto it was magical.

I think this may only be a Friday night special at City Pub, but you absolutely have to have the slow braised Lamb Shank ...this literally fell of the bone and was so flavorful and absolutely delicious, served with roasted potatoes and grilled Brussels sprouts.

After our meal and a few cocktails at City Pub, we walked across the hall and entered Bitters and Bottles. This is a pretty upscale handcrafted cocktail lounge with amazing drinks, great ambiance and a chill vibe. The artwork here is more of the same from inside City Pub with murals and paintings of Orlando. We were really impressed with the set up here.

Once inside we ordered a Lavender Mint Collins and a Whiskey Sour with Jim Beam Double Oak, and both were exceptional.

City Pub also offers one hell of a Sunday brunch deal. For $29.99 you get unlimited mimosas, interactive action stations that make red velvet waffles, carving stations with smoked salmon and other meats, a variety of fruits and vegetables, custom made eggs and pasta dishes from the kitchen.

We really liked City Pub and Bottles and Bitters, and think it is not only a great replacement for North Quarter Tavern, but a great addition to North Downtown Orlando.

City Pub is open from 11:30 am to 2:00 am Monday to Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 12:30 am.

Bitters and Bottles is open from 4:00 pm to 2:00 am Monday to Saturday, and they close at 12:30 am on Sunday.

Terralina Crafted Italian

Terralina Crafted Italian was inspired by Italy’s lake district, with alluring vistas, sun drenched settings and a glass conservatory that sweeps down to dining at the water’s edge.

Uniquely furnished dining rooms radiate out from the kitchen, each with a collection of found art or pieces that share the stories of moments spent celebrating. The veranda bar is a welcome invitation to relax and sip on craft cocktails and people watch.

James Beard award winning chef, Tony Mantuano, who was also a former contestant on Top Chef Masters, and is internationally respected for his role in defining true Italian cuisine, collaborated with Executive Chef Justin Plank to bring crafted Italian cooking and everyone together around genuine flavors and authentic dishes.

Showcasing foods that are both familiar and new, the menu here offers traditional Italian dishes like Housemade Lasagna, Parmesan Duo made with chicken and eggplant parmesan and spaghetti pomodoro, slow roasted Beef Short Rib, Housemade Porchetta and even Crispy Eggplant Fries.

The kitchen is at the heart of Terralina Crafted Italian and the wood burning oven fires a selection of hand tossed pizzas, calzones and fresh vegetables along with dishes from the hearth including chicken parmesan and seafood cannelloni prepared with housemade pasta.

A few of the pizza options include Margherita, Artisan Pepperoni, and even a Funghi with a mushroom trio of portobello, shiitake and cremini topped with roasted garlic and fresh mozzarella. Calzones come with roasted pork, sweet peppers, spinach, fresh mozzarella and goat cheese.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down and have a glass of wine with Chef Mantuano, and enjoy some food that he and Executive Chef Plank put together for us for a media dinner, and it was excellent of course.

We started the evening with a ridiculously large Antipasti Tower filled with prosciutto, spicy capicola, grana padano, bocconcini, tomatoes, pickled vegetables, grilled zucchini, parmesan crisp, olives, and housemade pecorino-truffle potato chips. This serves four people and then some. We really enjoyed the pickled veggies and especially the truffle potato chips.

The Seafood Canneloni is made with fish, shrimp, scallops, mascarpone and a lobster cream sauce and was paired with Italian wine Feudi di San Gregorio, Fiano di Avellino from Campania Italy.

Ravioli Gigante at Terralina Crafted Italian is a giant ravioli stuffed with spinach, fresh ricotta and parmesan covered in a roasted garlic tomato cream sauce. This was paired with Avignonesi Vino noble di Montelpulciano from Toscana.

Our evening ended with a dessert duo of flourless chocolate cake torte and a lemon thyme pannacotta paired with Brancher Prosecco Superiore from Veneto Italy.

We had a great time hanging out with Chef Mantuano, and all of the food we tried was wonderful. His love and passion for Italian cuisine really shows in all of the food an presentations.

Chef Mantuano had the opportunity to apprentice in Italy, and he was so inspired by the chefs who graciously shared their talent and culinary techniques, that he feels he owes it to them to represent the cuisine in the truest sense possible.

Terralina Crafted Italian is open everyday from 11:30 am to 11:00 pm.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar

9101 International Dr.
#1208, Orlando, FL 32819

View Website Here

Hopdoddy Burger Bar, the nationally renowned burger and beer joint, is officially open at Pointe Orlando. Originally founded in Austin, Texas, Hopdoddy has a total of 31 locations in seven states, and this is the first Florida location.

Founded in 2010 by Guy Villavaso, Larry Foles, Chuck Smith, and Larry Perdido, Hopdoddy stands out for its “from scratch” ethos and full bar. Designed to be devoured in your hands, all burgers at Hopdoddy are made with all natural meats.

Hopdoddy grinds their meats in house daily and offers a wide variety of proteins like Angus beef, grass-fed Kobe beef, chicken, turkey, and sushi grade tuna that are stacked between baked from scratch buns. They also offer vegetarian and vegan menu items such as The Impossible and La Bandita burgers.

Alongside its burgers, Hopdoddy serves a lineup of hand-cut fries, fresh salads, and handcrafted milkshakes made with Jersey Cream Custard.

In addition to cocktails, Hopdoddy also carries an array of local craft beers on tap as well as in cans and bottles. I tried the Salt Life Lager and also had the Doble Fina Margarita with Altos Plata Tequila, lime, agave and a black lava salt rim.

If you don't like Parmesan Truffle Fries, I'm not sure we can be friends.. the ones served up here are tossed in truffle oil, Parmesan and chives and come with truffle aioli for dipping and are amazing.

Every month at each Hopdoddy location, they have a different Specialty Burger. The February featured burger was The Tao of Sow... to celebrate the year of the pig for the 2019 Chinese New Year. This burger was made with a gochujang and furikake flavored pork patty and sits atop a black sesame soy bun topped with togarashi mayo, moo shu slaw and Emperor sauce. This was a unique burger, a tad salty at times, but overall really good.

The El Diablo is made with Angus beef, pepper jack, habaneros, serrano peppers, caramelized onions, salsa roja, chipotle aioli and sits on lettuce and tomatoes for a fiery kick that leaves a nice ring of heat around your mouth.

Hot Honey and Sage Fries at Hopdoddy were really really really good, so much so that it was hard to stop eating them. These are sweet potato fries covered in a spicy and sweet pepper honey and sage glaze and tossed in a metal bowl.

I was pretty impressed with the Ahi Tuna Burger, as I'm picky about tuna, especially as a burger. This is made sushi grade tuna topped with sunflower sprouts, nori chips, teriyaki, honey wasabi, pickled ginger, mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion. Everything worked together for nice texture and flavors.

Although I really enjoyed all the burgers at Hopdoddy, something about the simplicity of The Magic Shroom Burger really did it for me, as this was definitely my favorite with Angus beef, goat cheese, field mushrooms, mayo, basil pesto, lettuce, tomato and onion.

How about a Nutella Chocolate Pretzel Milkshake to end your evening? All shakes are spun using Jersey cream custard and for an added bonus, for a few bucks extra, you can Booze them up by adding a variety of rums and other spirits to any milkshakes on the menu.

As part of the mission to “Do Right,” the burger bar offers the Goodnight/Good Cause program nationwide where Hopdoddy donates a portion of the proceeds from each Good Night Good Cause burger sold to charitable organizations. Since 2010, Hopdoddy guests have helped raise more than $1,000,000.

The Goodnight/Good Cause burger is made with Angus beef, Tillamook cheddar, caramelized onions, jalapeños, caffeinated barbecue, Sassy Sauce, lettuce, and tomato.

Hopdoddy at Pointe Orlando is open from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm every day except Friday, as they stay open till 12:00 am.

Moroccan Breeze

9404 S Orange Blossom Trail
Orlando, FL 32837

View Website Here

A few weeks ago, I finally made the time to attend an Orlando Foodie Forum meetup, with a group of people I met from my friend and fellow food blogger Ricky Ly and his Facebook group of the same name, and I was so glad I did.

Moroccan Breeze is quite simply real authentic Moroccan food, and possibly some of the best you can find in Central Florida, the prices and portions here are great. What's even even better, the owners are genuinely down to earth and so grateful for each and every guest, you will feel like family during your visit.

To get to Moroccan Breeze, you have to enter through the front doors of Apna Bazaar, which in and of itself is a worthwhile foodie destination with one of largest selections of international foods and fresh halal meats. So don't worry if you can't find it from the outside.

The menu here is pretty simple and upfront with a selection of Couscous dishes, Tagines, (Moroccan tagine dishes are slow cooked savory stews, typically made with sliced meat, poultry or fish together with vegetables or fruit, spices, nuts, and dried fruits are also used) soups and salads, side items like Beef Briwat, sandwiches and a nice little bakery selection of fresh baked cookies and other Moroccan sweets.

Inside is not fancy at all, it's more like a food hall or a cafeteria feel, and there is also another Indian restaurant that occupies the space to the right, but I can assure you the food is five star quality.

The Beef Briwat at Moroccan Breeze is simply amazing... this is a savory pastry filled with Moroccan Kefta (ground beef) deep fried and dusted with powdered sugar. Savory, deep fried and a touch of sweet, this is simply phenomenal and I could seriously eat about a dozen of these.

This is the Merguez Sandwich, Merguez is a sausage made with uncooked lamb, beef, or a mixture stuffed into a lamb intestine casing and then cooked. It is heavily spiced with cumin and chili pepper or harissa for great flavors and a touch of heat.

Lamb couscous comes in a generous portion, it can easily be shared. This dish is full of flavor with veggies, chickpeas, sweet raisins, and a good amount of lamb with aged butter served over a bed of freshly made couscous. You can get lamb, chicken or beef couscous at Moroccan Breeze, but if you want something extra special, get the Royal Couscous with beef, lamb and chicken for all of your meat coma dreams.

Sure, all of the couscous dishes, the tagine the merguez sausage and probably everything here at Moroccan Breeze is really damn good, but they also make a good Shawarma packed full of chicken and beef with excellent flavors.

The selection of baked goods and sweets here is pretty decent as well. Chef Habiba graciously gave us all a free sample of a variety of cookies, and all were really good. We especially enjoyed the Ghoriba Bahla Moroccan Shortbread and the Semolina and Almond cookies that were not overly sweet but quite tasty.

Mint Tea is always a good after meal drink, as it is said to help digestion. Chef Habiba also gave us this on the house as well. This was offered with sugar to add, but I found it was not necessary as I really enjoyed the fresh minty and smooth flavor of the tea.

This a simple place, that is quite honestly unheralded and somewhat unknown, but the quality of food here is as good as it gets for Moroccan food, and Chef Habiba and the staff here are wonderful people.

For authentic Moroccan food with great flavors, great service and a simple non hurried low key dining spot… Moroccan Breeze is your place. Stop in and say hello to Chef Habiba.

If you are looking for new food spots, unknown places, or are new to the area and want to get plugged in to one of the best foodie communities in Orlando on Facebook, check out the Orlando Foodie Forum presented by Tasty Chomps! by clicking here

There is usually a foodie Friday where members of the group get together and check out some cool food spots in the area… whether they are the new hip spots in town, or off of the beaten path.

Moroccan Breeze is closed on Monday, and they are open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm. They are open until 9:00 pm on Sunday.

Park Pizza & Brewing Co.

6941 Lake Nona Blvd.
Orlando, FL 32827
(407) 955-4472
View Website Here

Park Pizza & Brewing Co. is Lake Nona’s newest home away from home, a welcoming retreat for the entire community where they serve up wood fired pizza and house brewed beer.

This is Tavistock Restaurant Collection’s fourth Central Florida restaurant concept that includes the recently opened Boxi Park, Chroma and Canvas, all of which are great concepts with great food. Tavistock knows a thing or two about creating atmosphere and good food that fits with the community.

Located in Lake Nona Town Center, Park Pizza & Brewing Company is a 5,055-square-foot, community focused gathering place featuring an onsite brewery and indoor/outdoor seating appropriate for families, friends and coworkers.

Fired in 900 degree wood burning ovens, the artisanal pizzas are topped with traditional toppings like pepperoni and buffalo mozzarella, as well as elevated gourmet toppings.

Menu Items here go as follows...Pre-Pizza, Not Pizza, Pizza, Your Pizza and Post Pizza, as well as a selection of Beer and Not Beer, and Also Not Beer for cocktail and regular beverage selections.

Head Brewer Marco Reyna, has taken care of the brewing duties, and they have some damn fine beers available here. Everything we sampled was fresh, crisp and refreshing, even the heavier IPA’s and stouts that were 10.5 abv.

We started off with a 4 Beer Flight ...from left to right we have the Standard Lager 4.5% abv, Belgian Wit 4.5% abv, Czech Pils 5.5% abv and Belgian Pale Ale 5.5% abv.

From the "Pre Pizza" menu is this wonderfully delicious and amazing Giant Soft Pretzel with Jalapeno Hefeweizen Beer Cheese...which is so perfect with a flight of beer.

Also on the "Pre Pizza" menu is the Burrata and Blistered Veggies with green peppers, artichokes, tomatoes, zucchini and mushrooms lightly cooked in olive oil and served with creamy Burrata Cheese...and it all pairs perfectly together.

Another 4 Beer Flight we tried...from left to right ... Russian Stout 10.5% abv, IPA 6.8% abv, Brown Ale 7% abv and Hibiscus Gos 4% abv. All were crisp and refreshing and surprisingly smooth for the abv content.

On the "Not Pizza" menu is a Di Capri Salad with Bocconcini Mozzarella, Cherry Tomatoes, Basil, Red Onions, Olive oil and Balsamic Vinegar.

The first pizza we tried at Park Pizza was the Red White and Bleu Pizza that features Garlic Cream Gorgonzola, Bacon, Granny Smith Apples and Red Onions for a very unique flavor combination.

Since we couldn't settle on just one more pizza, we went with a half and half with the Pepperoni Picante on the left with San Marzano tomato sauce, Grande Mozzarella, pepperoni, banana peppers and Chili Flakes... on the right is the Awesome Saus! with housemade sausage, elephant garlic, baby portobellos, red peppers and red onions and we enjoyed each half equally. All of our pizza selections here were terrific.

In addition to all the fine Craft Beer at Park Pizza, they have a few Sangrias, Wines and Cocktails available as well...like the Green Apple with Sauvignon blanc and Jim Beam apple bourbon, ruby red grapefruit, sparkling water and fresh apples...and the Kickin Mule on the right, a traditional mule made with Uncle Nearest 1856 Whiskey.

The Cannolis were quite delicious with just the right amount of sweet to finish our evening.

Within the dining room, at the bar, or on the patio, you’ll find a place to grab a bite and a pint, watch the game, hang with your kids, and catch up with friends. Come as you are, comfort is key.

Complimentary parking is available in the five-story central parking structure featuring Lake Nona’s interactive landmarks, The Beacon and Code Wall.

Park Pizza and Brewing Co. is open from 11:00 am to 12:00 am, and on Friday and Saturday they are open until 2:00 am.
