Wine Bar George Set To Open at Disney Springs in Early 2018

C:\Users\lmklec1\Desktop\MISC\G\new logo.pngDisney Springs
1610 E. Buena Vista Dr
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Master Sommelier George Miliotes will bring his renowned wine expertise to Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort when his new venture, Wine Bar George, opens in early 2018.

Wine Bar George will be the only Master Sommelier-led wine bar in Florida.
Miliotes is widely regarded as one of the restaurant industry’s foremost wine experts with accolades and awards from national publications including Wine Spectator.

Miliotes is no stranger to Walt Disney World Resort – he was part of the opening team of California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and managed the venue from 1995 to 2002. While there, he created an award-winning wine list and one of the first 100 wines by the glass lists in the country.

“I’m excited to return to Walt Disney World Resort, and Disney Springs is the perfect place to open a wine bar and share my passion with the world,” Miliotes said. “Having the opportunity to train and hire my own team while sharing my 40-plus years of knowledge is truly incredible, and I look forward to opening our doors in the coming year.”

As one of only 236 worldwide industry professionals certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers, Miliotes will feature wines from famed growing regions both stateside and abroad at Wine Bar George. The location will offer an unparalleled wine list including more than 100 selections both by the bottle and the glass.

Additionally, Wine Bar George will include a food menu featuring small plates, family style items and cheese and charcuterie designed to complement the wine list. Offerings will feature local artisans and seasonally relevant items.

Guests can expect their experience to include wine education, which will be served up in an approachable and fun manner. Every part of the Wine Bar George experience, including special events and visits from renowned winemakers, will educate and enlighten guests about food and wine.

At Wine Bar George, guests will enjoy the trifecta of exceptional food, renowned wines and leave with as much wine knowledge as they wish.”

Miliotes’ unique by-the-glass lists encourage guests to make adventurous choices, selecting new wines, whether they are domestic or global, to pair with their courses. The result of his worldwide efforts are wine lists that are distinct to his restaurant’s culinary offerings, and widely reviewed as exceptional in every way.

When the 210-seat wine bar opens, it will join a growing and remarkable group of dining, shopping and entertainment offerings at Disney Springs. The design for the 6,000-square-foot space will be reminiscent of a winemaker’s home estate featuring oak wood, warm lighting and a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere.

The Parkview

136 S Park Ave.
Winter Park, FL 32789
(407) 647-9103
View Website Here

Downtown Winter Park has been known as a foodie destination for quite some time, and it's quite the popular spot for Winter Park Locals.

With restaurants like Luma and Prato with local celebrity chef Brandon McGlamery, The Coop by John Rivers and a host of other great restaurants that fill up the area, one is sure to find something great to eat.

The Parkview once upon a time was known as Eola Wine Company, which was a cool place to grab a glass of your favorite wine, or sample something new, but offered nothing in the way of food. Back in 2015 Eola Wine Company was sold, and the the location occupying 136 S. Park Avenue turned into The Parkview.

Chef Brad Holmes is the current executive chef, and he is doing everything in his power to make sure The Parkview gets its place on the map as an official destination for the cool kids and foodies alike that visit Winter Park.

Everything here is made using only the finest and freshest ingredients possible, when they are available. Chef Brad is also making sure all of his assistants know the menu inside and out, because he is very big on quality and consistency, and that's a really good thing.

The menu here has a big focus on small bites and bar fare, because after all, wine and food go hand in hand. Items like Baked Brie, Baked Gnocchi, Beer Cheese & Pretzels, Confit Chicken Wings, and a truly amazing Truffle Mac & Cheese are great items to enjoy while sampling a flight of wine, or enjoying one of the many specialty craft beers available.

The Confit Duck, Pulled Pork and the Roasted Artichoke crostini’s are enough to share, or simply enjoy it all to yourself. Charcuterie Boards and a variety of fresh salads are also plentiful here with assorted meats accompanied with local jam, house cured olives, chef’s butter, grapes, sweet pickled peppers, caper berries and walnuts, and a variety of fresh greens used in the salads.

If you require a more complete meal, Chef Brad and The Parkview have you covered there also, with a nice selection of chef’s specials and a flatbread selection that will leave you full and satisfied. Items like Braised Short Rib Wellington, Fresh Catch en Papillote, Roasted Lamb, Roasted Bone Marrow, Thai Curry Mussels and a Confit Duck flatbread are wonderfully delicious and wholesome meals to cure your dinner cravings.

The Birdwatcher is a wine flight of crisp white wines featuring wines from Montinore Estate, Font-Mars, Terranoble, and Pazo das Bruxas. If you are not sure what you want, or like, The Parkview has a good selection of flights to choose from. If wine is not your thing, they have an incredible craft beer selection too.

Spring Salad was light and refreshing and features field greens, poached pear, dried cherries, smoked bleu cheese, candied walnuts and a champagne vinaigrette.

The Roasted Artichoke Crostini is pretty outstanding with roasted artichokes, red pepper pesto, pickled red onions, arugula and Manchego cheese.

Truffle Mac & Cheese is quite a popular dish at a lot of restaurants these days, but the one served up at The Parkview is quite spectacular. This is made with smoked Gouda cheese, Crimini mushrooms, Parmesan, Truffle oil and bread crumbs. This is a great dish to share at the table, but one bite into it, and you may try to put it all away yourself.

Aside of being beautifully presented, the Roasted Lamb is herb crusted and served with sauteed olives, roasted red peppers, artichoke and spinach, Tzatziki sauce and chili oil for a slight touch of heat on the end.

The Fresh Catch en Papillote is a classic French style of cooking in a parchment packet that features fresh fish of the day, and this day it was fresh Yellowtail cooked with crab butter, summer squash, zucchini slaw, lemon and herbs and served along side roasted potatoes, and green bean almandine. This is a very traditional dish, and the flavor was nothing short of extraordinary.

Chocolate Mousse with bacon cookies was an off the menu special dessert and it was a wonderful ending to our time at The Parkview.

The Parkview still has an incredible selection of wines in its current form, but now they also have an incredible selection of food and craft beers.

Since the the transition from Eola Wine Company, they have had a couple of head chefs come through the doors and pretty much build a menu from scratch with a very small kitchen that only has the bare necessities.

When you consider this, and the quality of food and wine here, this place is pretty amazing, and Chef Brad is doing an excellent job of adding yet another great dining option to the historic Winter Park area.

The Parkview is open on Sunday to Wednesday from 11 am to 12 am, and from Thursday to Saturday from 11 am to 1:45 am. They serve food late here and they also have a really good weekend brunch and happy hour specials with Tuesday Trivia.

Flemings Prime Steakhouse

933 N Orlando Ave.
Winter Park, FL 32789

View Website Here

In today's day and age, the term “Chain Restaurant” often gets a few noses turned up at even the mention of the words. I say that because as a food blogger, I can tell you...just because a restaurant has more than one location or several for that matter, does not mean that they can not stand above the competition.

Fleming’s was founded in 1998 by restaurateurs Paul Fleming and Bill Allen in Newport Beach, California. The vision was to create a unique steakhouse experience with an emphasis on generous hospitality, an inviting atmosphere and the very finest aged USDA Prime beef. As time went on the Fleming’s brand became successful and eventually wound up as part of Bloomin' Brands, one of the world's largest casual dining companies, which also owns and operates Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba's Italian Grill and Bonefish Grill.

At Fleming's, a steak is never just a steak. They have a very meticulous process of selection, preparation and service that ensures it reaches your table at its very best. They obsess over every detail so that you'll savor every bite. Fleming’s prizes itself with a selection of the finest USDA Prime beef, available both wet and dry aged and broiled at 1,600 degrees or iron crusted.

In addition to inspired service and expertly prepared Prime Steak, Fleming's has an exceptional selection of wines for guests to explore. The Fleming's 100 is the restaurant's award winning collection of 100 wines by the glass. The collection is thoughtfully curated by director of wine, Maeve Pesquera. Each year, top-rated wines from around the world and exclusive, limited-allocation boutique wines are selected during an extensive 12-month tasting process. Unique local wine selections are also available at each Fleming's location.

If wine is not your thing, they have some fabulous cocktails available as well.
The Spring Fling is pictured on the left and a classic Mai Tai to the right.

We were greeted by the chef with a wonderful appetizer of gulf shrimp and cheese grits.

My dining companion and I decide to split the Spring Tomato Bisque with artisanal garlic croutons and parmesan frico. The soup was part of a “Taste Of The Season” menu and was delicious.

Once I saw the Genuine Kona crusted Prime Rib Eye, I had to order it. At 16 ounces, it was more than I could eat in one sitting, but a steak this flavorful deserves two separate days to eat it. The Rib Eye itself was cooked to perfection at my requested medium and the Kona rub was magical.

My dining companion chose the Filet “Oscar” paired with a jumbo lump blue crab cake and béarnaise sauce, as featured on the Taste Of The Season menu. The filet was like butter and just melted in your mouth, and the crab cake was excellent as well.

We chose the Warm Apple Crisp with cinnamon crème for our dessert. It was a lovely treat for two to share.

Any time is a good time to stop into your local Fleming’s for some wonderful prime cuts of steak. However, they usually offer seasonal specials throughout the year on a “Taste Of The Season menu with special food pairings and custom cocktails.

Running until June 18th is the Rare & Bold: A Pairing Experience –
Diners can experience the perfect pairing of steak and wine and discover the distinct flavors between steak cuts and aging processes when precisely paired with different types of wines. This four-course, culinary experience will feature Fleming’s classics and thoughtful wine pairings starting at $95 per person, two person minimum.

If you have a case of the Mondays… and who doesn't ? Fleming’s has something that will turn your frown upside down with Prime Monday’s.
Guests can enjoy a three course meal with their choice of the Craftsman Ribeye, Pork Chop or Sea Bass accompanied by Truffle Mash and Spicy Thai Green Beans. Each entree comes with choice of salad or soup and a dessert. To complete the experience, guests can pick two glasses of wine from a pre-selected menu for $20 or two glasses of wine from a more premium pre-selected menu for $30. Available now for $49.95 each Monday.

Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse

9150 International Dr.
Orlando, FL 32819

Back in August, I shared with you the news of the all new Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House that opened up on I-Drive in Orlando, you can see more of it Here if you need a refresher.

Although I did sample all kinds of wonderful appetizers, I didn't really get to sample the good stuff...steak. So I was delighted to return for another preview of what turned out to be a meat lover's dream come true.

As I mentioned in my first blog post, the Del Frisco’s brand was born more than 20 years ago, and embodies the rich tradition of the classic American steakhouse, with impeccable chef-driven cuisine, an extensive award-winning wine list and unparalleled hospitality.

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House features a sizable, diverse wine list of more than 1,200 labels, to include a number of notable verticals from both old and new world producers. With two floors that include two bars, four private dining rooms and a picturesque patio, Del Frisco’s Orlando boasts over 400 seats. I'm sure you appreciate that information, but lets get right to all this wonderful food.

To help wash down all of the flavors, we were treated to Del Frisco’s Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and a Sonoma Cutrer Russian River Ranch Chardonnay. The cocktail of the evening was The VIP, which is Del Frisco’s signature cocktail made with clementine vodka infused in a full pineapple for 14 days.

The Shellfish Plateau features chilled Alaskan king crab legs, iced jumbo shrimp, fresh oysters on the half shell, chilled crab claws & traditional garnishes.

The Petite Crab Cakes were nice chunks of crab meat and Cajun lobster sauce sitting on top of a delicious basil brioche.

A wonderful twist on Pork Belly was the Thick Cut Bacon Au Poivre with Bourbon Molasses Glaze. This was loaded with flavor and had plenty of savory with an equal amount of sweet.

I love a good lamb cooked properly, and the the Lamb Lollipop’s with a pomegranate mint glaze were pretty amazing.

The Tuna Tartare featured strikingly fresh tuna, crisp wonton and wasabi cream with micro cilantro.

Filet Mignon may be a common steak to order, but rest assured, Del Frisco’s will make sure your filet is extraordinary.

The Prime Strip Steak had a wonderful seasoning on it and melted in your mouth.

Ribeye is one of my favorites, next to a good strip steak, and the Prime Rib Eye Steak I tasted at Del Frisco’s was heavenly.

Here is some more beautiful steak footage to make you drool.

Some of the evenings desserts included a Lemon Cake with lemon buttercream icing and lemon glaze, Chocolate Souffle Cake with a warm molten center chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, and raspberry sauce and a Butter Cake with butter pecan ice cream, fresh whipped cream & caramel sauce. All of which were delicious.

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse is open for Dinner from Monday through Saturday from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm and Sunday from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Lunch is served Monday to Friday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
