Chicken Guy! is coming to Disney Springs

Following a successful collaboration between celebrity chef, Guy Fieri, and restaurateur, Robert Earl, the two dynamic forces have come together to create a new concept that will launch its flagship location at Disney Springs at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Chicken Guy! is a fast-casual chain dedicated to serving delicious, succulent chicken tenders paired with a wide variety of flavorful sauces meant to please all palates.

The menu at Chicken Guy! will feature one-of-a-kind all-natural fresh chicken tenders, hand-pounded to maximize crunch and paired with a wide selection of delicious sauces. Brined in fresh lemon juice, pickle brine and buttermilk, and infused with fresh herbs, these tenders deliver on flavor and texture. 


The menu features the tenders—grilled or fried—in sandwiches, straight up on skewers, or in meal-sized salad bowls, and a wide array of sauces to enjoy with the chicken as well as tempting sides like Guy Fieri’s fries, crowd pleasing mac ‘n cheese, fried pickles and fresh slaw.

If all of that isn’t enough to satisfy, Chicken Guy! has two delicious Flavortown Frozen Treats that will make anyone’s mouth water! Guests can end their meal on a sweet note with the Triple Double Ice Cream Treat, a large cup of deliciousness combining triple chocolate and doublemint, that may cause a few cases of brain freeze or the Cinnamon Apple, a heaping cup vanilla soft serve ice cream smothered in Cinnamon Toast Crunch & Apple Jacks cereal.

Master Sommelier George Miliotes has brought his renowned wine expertise to Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort with his new venture, Wine Bar George, that opened on May 19th.

Miliotes is no stranger to Walt Disney World Resort – he was part of the opening team of the California Grill restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and managed the venue from 1995 to 2002. While there, he created an award-winning wine list and one of the first “100 wines by the glass” lists in the country.

“Disney Springs is the perfect place to open a wine bar and share my passion with the world,” Miliotes said. “Having the opportunity to train and hire my own team while sharing my 40-plus years of knowledge is truly incredible, and I look forward to opening our doors soon.”

As one of only 249 worldwide industry professionals certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers, Miliotes will feature wines from acclaimed and well-known wineries as well as growing regions and wineries that are up-and-coming. The location will offer an unparalleled wine list including more than 130 selections by the ounce, glass and bottle.

“The wine list will feature more than 130 wines all served by the ounce, glass or bottle,” Miliotes said. “The list will include more than 40 varietals from regions around the world. We will use the Coravin, the Vinfinity system and wine on tap to ensure each wine is enjoyed to its fullest extent. 

Servers will adeptly pair a range of small plates, cheese and charcuterie, shareable entrees and dessert with each wine. If you are looking for an awesome $9 glass on tap or a few ounces of Château Margaux, we will have wines for you to enjoy.”

Guests will have the opportunity to explore endless food and wine pairings at Wine Bar George. Executive Chef Ron Rupert and Miliotes have worked closely to create a menu that will pair with the extensive wine list.

“Offerings will feature seasonally relevant items, and everything will be made in-house,” Rupert said. “I’ve worked jointly with George to develop a menu that represents both global and local cuisine.Guests will enjoy food that is familiar, yet new all at once.”

With a team hand-selected by Miliotes, guests can expect their experience to include wine education, which will be served up in an approachable and fun manner. Joining Miliotes as General Manager is George Vavalides who brings more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry including nearly 20 years with P.F. Chang’s.

Jamie Irizarry will be part of Miliotes’ team as Restaurant Manager. Irizarry has more than 15 years in the industry working with restaurants such as Seasons 52, Eddie V’s and The Capital Grille.

Robyn Cohen will join as Director of Beverage with 15 years of bartending experience including, most recently, at Flying Fish on Disney’s BoardWalk. Cohen and Miliotes worked jointly to develop the featured cocktails at Wine Bar George, all of which will include a grape-based spirit. In addition to the extensive wine list, the wine bar will offer a variety of cocktails, a selection of beer and cider and frosé.


The 200-seat wine bar will join a growing and remarkable group of dining, shopping and entertainment offerings at Disney Springs. The design for the 6,000-square-foot space will be similar to a winemaker’s home estate with a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. The space includes seating for groups of all sizes, areas for private events and sweeping views of Disney Springs.

Buca di Beppo Opens New Location in Celebration

The first Buca di Beppo opened its doors in 1993 in the basement of a Minneapolis apartment building.

Since then, the brand has grown to over 100 locations worldwide. The all new Celebration / Kissimmee location marks the third one in the Central Florida area, and the seventh one in the entire state of Florida.

Buca di Beppo strives to capture the fun and enthusiasm of an authentic Italian family gathering along with delectable food. If you have ever dined with an Italian family, then you understand that the food is always a big priority and the portions are more than plenty. The dishes served up here are inspired by the cuisine enjoyed for generations in villages throughout Italy and are served family style, meant to be shared by the entire table.


The menu is inspired by various places around and throughout Italy, as Buca tries to serve up authentic Italian fare. They have continued to innovate and create recipes beyond their traditional style by adding new menu items inspired by Northern and Southern Italian cuisine.

Everything from salads, antipasto platters, flatbreads, mussels, calamari and a large variety of pastas fill the menu. A Buca small serves two to three, and a Buca large serves up to 5, as everything here is served a la carte family style only.

Inside of every Buca di Beppo restaurant is an eclectic setting designed to make every occasion a party. The vintage setting is always a point of conversation with all of the walls covered in family photos and candid shots of Italian American icons such as Sophia Loren and Joe DiMaggio. Each room at Buca is themed, and all restaurants have a Pope table which is the largest single round table in a room with a bust of the Pope as the centerpiece.

All Buca locations have a large wine list, but they also serve up pretty good cocktails like the Buca Berry Lemonade on the left and a Sparkling Sangria on the right.

The Antipasto Platter is a new addition to the menu and it is loaded with prosciutto, pepperoni, salami, provolone & fresh mozzarella with arugula, pepperoncini, green & black olives, roasted red peppers, marinated artichokes & Parmesan crostini.

Fried Mozzarella with housemade marinara sauce is an old standby, but it's always delicious.

Italian Sausage & Arugula is also a new addition to the menu and it is topped with spicy Italian sausage, prosciutto, mozzarella, provolone, garlic, arugula and balsamic glaze. This was really good, and a bit spicy.

Our table really enjoyed the Chicken Carbonara that is made with a cut up chicken breast, prosciutto, peas and garlic in rich Alfredo sauce.

I love a good Eggplant Parmigiana, and in fact this one at Buca di Beppo is as close to homemade as I have had. This is battered, fried and stacked eggplant topped with homemade marinara sauce, Roma tomatoes, basil & mozzarella cheese.

The Quattro al Forno is a good way to sample a few different things. This dish comes with four items...Cheese Manicotti, Chicken Cannelloni, Cheese Ravioli & Stuffed Shells.

Although the sauce was a tad sweet, everyone at our table really loved the Chicken Marsala with baby portobello mushrooms in a traditional Marsala wine reduction sauce.

You can't go wrong with any dessert selection at Buca di Beppo, but this gigantic slice of Tiramisu is pretty fabulous. It features homemade ladyfingers soaked in dark rum & espresso, layered with sweetened mascarpone cheese & topped with cocoa & crumbled hazelnut biscotti . If you add an espresso with this...its close to perfect.


I've been to a few Buca di Beppo locations with family, friends, a wedding reception..you name it, and everyone has always had a great time. Sit back and listen to the classic tunes of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and be prepared to eat. 

The friendly staff and whimsical atmosphere are sure to be a hit as you can't help but laugh at all of the funny pictures of Italian family members throughout history. Stop by the new location in Celebration and say Ciao.

Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic Introduces Grand Tasting Experience

For the first time in its eight years, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic will offer a grand tasting experience led by a master sommelier.

The tasting will feature wines from the Italian regions of Barolo and Barbaresco and highlight the unique Nebbiolo grape of northern Italy.

Leading the experience will be Master Sommelier Matthew Citriglia, one of only 149 master sommeliers in the Americas. He will guide the tasting like a tour through Piedmont showcasing several rare vintages from the region. As an intimate experience, tickets will be extremely limited.


Citriglia is the director of education for Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits and among the longest-tenured master sommeliers in Florida.

He has served on the board of directors of the world-renowned organization since 2004. Citriglia mentors students pursuing master sommelier certification and has created training seminars to educate professionals in the food and beverage industry. He has more than 30 years of experience in the industry.

The grand tasting will join other seminar favorites returning to the event once again, including Wine Blending, Italian Wines, More than Malbec, Base to Bubbles, Beer Please, Craft Cocktails, Fine Art of Sushi and Sake, The Cheese Course, Pasta Making and back by popular demand after a several year hiatus, Riesling, So Sweet & So Dry.

The Grand Tasting with Master Sommelier Matthew Citriglia will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 2:00p.m. – 3:30p.m. Tickets are $300 per person. Eleven, as you may have guessed is the restaurant located on the eleventh floor of the Reunion Grande, the resort's most luxurious one and two bedroom villas. 

The restaurant is very chic and upscale and features an outdoor rooftop lounge that offers stunning views of the skyline and the nightly fireworks display from Disney's Magic Kingdom.

I've been there a few times in the past and have always had a great experience, but it has been a few years since my last visit. A lot can change in that time, especially in the restaurant business, and this time around it was to welcome an all new Chef.

I recently had the opportunity to meet Chef De Cuisine, Jake Brenchley, at a “Meet the Chef" media dinner to indulge in this modern rooftop steakhouse with a nouvelle feel and see how Chef Jake has elevated the epicurean experience at Eleven with a 
masterfully re-crafted menu. 

The name Eleven is not just a coincidence, but a central focus of the restaurant. The space encompasses the 11th story and rooftop of the Reunion Resort’s Grande tower, and is coupled with the comforts of a modern and progressive atmosphere and accented by farm to table elements.

The menu showcases a bounty of creatively prepared fare with 11 showcased ingredients and a signature 11 spice blend, all served from an exposed kitchen. 

The menu at Eleven is full of handcrafted cocktails and steakhouse favorites that accentuate prime cuts of beef with rubs, sauces, and other enhancements available to add to your selection. This is certainly a modern steakhouse with a new cuisine feel.

The ambiance and decor here is pretty hard to match, and you cant beat the location. The open air veranda and nightly fireworks accent the sights and sounds of the open kitchen. 


Although there is plenty of space to dine inside and outside at Eleven, the dynamic wine list and signature cocktail menu along with expanded by the glass selections can be enjoyed at the bar as well.


All good meals start with good bread, and the Parker House rolls served in a cast iron skillet with rosemary lavender butter are a great way to whet your appetite in anticipation for your steak. These are highly addictive, so be sure to leave some room for the rest of your meal.


Wagyu Beef Carpaccio is a great appetizer to share at the table, or eat it all by yourself. This is served with Baby Fennel, Foie Grois Cream and Gooseberry.

If you are not in the mood for a steak, Eleven also features Salmon, Sea Bass, and this wonderful roasted Halibut with lobster, almond milk, English peas, ramp pesto, and preserved lemon. This was served with Pinot Grigio.


The 1855 Ribeye is dry aged 21 days and was cooked to perfection. This cut of meat was tender, juicy and succulent and was highlighted by the flavor blend of the 11 spice blend of green peppercorns, pink peppercorns, coriander, cardamom, cinnamon, garlic powder, chili powder, star anise, fennel seed, sumac and smoked paprika.


The steak was accompanied by Creamed Corn with grilled scallions and bacon fat. Other accompaniments we enjoyed were the Roasted Potato Gratin with yukon and sweet potatoes and the Pancetta Roasted Brussel Sprouts.


The dessert portion of the evening was something simple with a twist. The Preserved Raspberry Crumble with whipped brie gelato, rose petal sugar and mint spun sugar may appear to be something your grandmother would whip up, but the complexity of ingredients made this an interesting ending to our night.


Reunion resort is a spectacular place to visit, even if it's just for dinner. As mentioned earlier, at around 9:00 pm or so, if you are at Eleven restaurant, you do not want to miss the wonderful fireworks display from the neighboring Magic Kingdom.

Reunion Resort features 360 resort accommodations including luxury condominiums, private villas and vacation homes surrounded by 2,300 acres of lush landscape as well as a nature preserve. It is the only location in the United States with golf courses designed by the golf greats Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson.

The resort also features elegantly appointed meeting space, a full service boutique spa, multiple pools, slides, water playgrounds and a 1,000 foot lazy river… and oh by the way, there is even a rooftop pool outside on the 11th floor, just outside of the restaurant.

Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace is a 1,014 room Orlando oasis that recently completed a property-wide, multi million dollar renovation, with further plans of 80 million dollars expected to be spent to finalize the complete transformation.

The hotel has unveiled a series of upscale refurbishments including new restaurants, market places, recreation areas and of course all of the rooms got a complete makeover too.

The highlights of this renovation include all new guest room and lobby design, new lobby bar and outside terrace. The restaurant and market additions include Sunnies, home to a selection of local craft beers and seasonal fares, a new poolside restaurant, Shades, a new alphabet-designed restaurant that is designed to be a modern print shop called Letterpress, and a grab-and-go market and retro candy bar called Citrus 28.

No resort is complete without great family oriented recreational activities, especially in Florida. The new expansive recreation area at Hilton Lake Buena Vista includes a Float Lagoon lazy river, adult lap pool and cabanas with a new event lawn and plenty of kid’s programming.

Other resort gems include the Sunday Disney Character Brunch, retro-themed candy shop, stargazing lessons with glow in the dark mocktails, and rooms where kids can watch firework shows from their windows. Groups can book a cocktail reception with views of firework shows over Disney theme parks at 20Seven, which is the highest vantage point in Disney.

Citrus 28 is the place for those moments when you need to grab a quick meal. The gourmet market and cafe features Starbucks coffee, freshly prepared light meals, gourmet bites and local favorites prepared daily and an old fashioned candy store. Guests can take advantage of complimentary Wi-Fi while enjoying the casual seating area.

Letterpress has an impressive view. This is the place to enjoy the eclectic feel of a modern printing shop while enjoying classic American fare. The newest restaurant features seasonal favorites and cooked to order omelets for breakfast. Lunch and dinner menus feature delightfully plated meals with locally sourced ingredients. While you dine, you can enjoy the gorgeous views of Blake Lake, the new float lagoon and event lawn.

Shades is the perfect spot to pull up a chair and enjoy delicious poolside drinks and cuisine. Shades serves fresh American fare, including the quintessential burger and fries, flatbreads, wraps and refreshing cocktails while lounging poolside in the Florida sunshine.

The Cobb salad at Shades features chopped greens, grilled tomatoes, avocado wedges, griddled egg ribbons, lemon dressed rotisserie chicken, cave aged blue cheese & a charred lemon and Italian dressing.

Local brewery, Central 28 Beer Company, located in Debary, FL, can be found at Shades as well.

The Coastal Fish Tacos at Shades are flour tortilla with fresh grilled local fish, house ranchero, avocado, shredded lettuce, & topped with a fresh cilantro crema.

For dessert, Shades offers a cookie ice cream sandwich made with vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies. The cookies are made in house & can also be picked up at Citrus 28 in the hotel.

The newly redone Planet Hollywood Observatory has officially opened its doors, and it's pretty amazing.

Centrally located overlooking the heart of Disney Springs with a newly expanded outdoor terrace and bar, a new menu and a dazzling array of lighting and design elements, Planet Hollywood Observatory has the “wow” factor for sure.

Repeatedly at the forefront of industry trends, Robert Earl, the entrepreneur, restaurateur and star of the Cooking Channel’s “Robert Earl’s Be My Guest,” spearheaded the redo for the Orlando flagship location, and he has really outdone himself with this one.

Within the sophisticated entertainment emporium, patrons of all ages are invited to “Dine Amongst the Stars” through distinctive indoor and outdoor bar and lounge options, an imaginative new merchandise line, and a host of all star celebrity collaborations.

Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, each floor was created to provide a different experience so guests can return again and again, discovering a new adventure each time. Walls and glass displays throughout the restaurant are adorned with imagery as well as a curated collection of memorabilia, along with a state-of-the-art 4,500 square foot video wall that utilizes the latest in 3-D technology.

Chef, restaurateur and television personality Guy Fieri has introduced a few flavor packed burgers and sandwiches to the menu as part of the larger menu offerings for the transformed Orlando flagship location. New dining options are aimed to highlight Planet Hollywood’s timeless classics and introduce Fieri’s updated creations.

While the exterior is reminiscent of a turn of the century observatory with a modern design aesthetic, the interior’s refurbished upholstery, spherical planet shaped lighting fixtures and stylish finishing create a welcoming atmosphere for fans to celebrate a new generation of superstar entertainers.


The updated beverage program features a variety of milkshakes, smoothies, wines, bottled and draft beers, as well as cocktails served in specialty glassware. Pictured left is the Observatory made with Stoli vodka, peach tea and prosecco. On the right is the Stargazer made with blueberry vodka and lemonade.

The High Roller Appetizer Platter is quite the spectacle when it arrives at your table served in a Ferris wheel. This features Chicken crunch tenders breaded with Cap'n Crunch and corn flakes, Texas Tostadas, buffalo wings, five cheese dip and Peri-Peri shrimp.


The Bacon Mac-N-Cheese burger is made with applewood smoked bacon, six cheese mac-n-cheese, crispy onion straws and is finished up with Guy’s famous Donkey sauce. All burgers and sandwiches are served with triple fries, which is a variety of three different types of seasoned French fries. This is the signature burger here, and it was pretty messy, but pretty darn tasty.


The St. Louis style BBQ ribs are smoked in house and smothered with BBQ sauce served with triple fries served on a miniature picnic table. The rib meat literally fell off the bone and had a great flavor.


Of course the desserts here are just as exciting and entertaining as the rest of the food and the observatory itself. This Cosmic Cotton Candy milkshake features cotton candy flavored ice cream, rainbow sprinkles, white chocolate covered pretzels, cotton candy, and a lollipop. 

Other shakes like this are featured as well like the Strawberry Big Bang and the Chocolate Comet that are just as over the top and delicious as this one. They also offer a Gelato and ice cream plate, chocolate meltdown, brownie sundae, and Star Jars that are like cakes or puddings layered up in jars.


Planet Hollywood Observatory is open from Sunday to Thursday from 11:00am until 12:00am, while Friday and Saturday the restaurant portion is open until 1:00am.

The bar portion is open from Sunday to Thursday from 11:00am to 1:00am and Friday and Saturday, the bar stays open until 2:00am.
